SONIC's First Holiday Drink Of The Season Pulls On Our Nostalgic Heartstrings

SONIC's First Holiday Drink Of The Season Pulls On Our Nostalgic Heartstrings

The Southern fast-food chain just announced that their newest seasonal milkshake is a twist on a beloved Christmas dessert that came into popularity in the late 90s—rich, creamy, minty peppermint bark. SONIC’s take on the treat is a Peppermint Brownie Bark Shake.

This decadent—but still temperature-appropriate—dessert blends vanilla soft serve with chocolate chunk brownie pieces and cool, crushed peppermints, and is topped with whipped cream, a cherry, and more crushed peppermints. Sounds like Santa would give his stamp of approval! The shake starts at $5.39 for a medium.

In addition to their new holiday menu item, SONIC is also launching a Pretzel Bacon Double SONIC Smasher—smashed-and-crispy Angus beef patties layered with American cheese, bacon, crunchy fried onions, and creamy mustard on a buttery pretzel bun. Go big or go home—if you’d like a Texas-sized version, you can even grab this juicy new burger as a triple.

“At SONIC, we know the ultimate crave season doesn’t stick to one flavor or one moment,” said Barb Williams, Vice President of Category Management at SONIC. “This year, our Peppermint Brownie Bark Shake and Pretzel Bacon SONIC Smasher bring a perfect mix of festive indulgence and crave-worthy comfort. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, savory, or both, we’re making it easy for everyone to enjoy a little more flavor and fun this season.”

And if you’re hoping to save a few dollars on one of your weeknight dinners, you may also be interested in the chain’s revamped $1.99 menu, where you can pick up fan-favorite items for just two dollars.
